Coaching law department lead

Law Department Leaders are called upon to be the oracle of all things legal and regulatory, trusted counselors and confidants, team managers and players and protectors of the Company.  That is not easy but Hattem Advisors can help you navigate your complex world while being true to yourself.

COMPANIES

Chief Legal Officers (CLOs) and deputies have one of the most challenging corporate jobs. Like all senior executives, they must perform in highly dynamic environments, working with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the company board, their peers, business leaders, and internal teams to advance the objectives of the company. There are few people higher up in a company who a CLO does not have to be familiar with.

CLOs and deputies also have the specialized role of acting as a trusted counselor to the CEO and the board while maintaining a duty to the organization and level of independence. The best ones serve as the moral compass on risk, culture, and ethics, in addition to their other responsibilities.

Through Context Coaching, we will help you systematically identify, understand and prioritize the moving parts of your organization. We will also examine the larger environment, regulators, outside counsel and consultants, social trends, and the role they play in your organization.

LAW FIRMS

Even under the best of circumstances, Law Firm Leaders have a challenging job. They have to grow into a position where they are recognized for the quality of their work and the strength of their practice. As leaders, however, they must attend to a wide range of management responsibilities. These can extend outside of their comfort zone, including things like training attorneys, retaining talent, setting budgets, developing business, to overseeing national and international practices. Add in hybrid work between the office and home, the changing demands to keep employees, and long-delayed demands for social equality, and the challenges just multiply.

Through Context Coaching, we will help you better systematically identify, understand and prioritize the moving parts of your organization, team and larger environment. We will do so by examining social trends, media demands, your typical client’s perspective, and the evolving codes of expected behavior that impact your organization. We will be clear and honest about your strengths, challenges, opportunities, and persona, because that’s the only way to better them.

Then together, we will create an action plan that is personal, authentic, and designed to most effectively navigate your professional world with clarity and integrity.

Of course, along the way, we will evaluate progress, discuss thorny issues and experiences, applaud successes, consider new approaches and adapt accordingly. And, we will do all of this based on trust and candor enabling us to get the best out of each other and the process.
